Should we wear masks in a hospital waiting room?

Something I do not understand. In a drop-in weekend clinic at a local hospital, those waiting to have dressings replaced sit in a waiting room where there are patients with colds, coughs and other illnesses wait for a doctor.

Much as I think it is wonderful that such a service is available, should masks be worn by those who are well, so that by having to sit amongst patients who deserve all the help they can get at weekends, the well do not contract these illnesses.

Just a thought, but in reality it happens every weekend.
